I am a nurse working in the same NHS Trust . I have heard many positive things about Dr Johnson and met her previously in my role as a CPN .
I find that she listens to patients and staff and is very proactive when it comes to discharge planning and , in collaboration with the patients carers, ward social worker and MDT , seeks to find the most appropriate and adequate future placement for patients whether it is to supported accommodation , back home or nursing homes .
Positive risk taking is encouraged , regular reviews of risk assessments and care plans which appear to be assisting patients to become more independent and proactive in their own discharge planning .
I have been working in another area of the Trust for the past year and have recently returned to the ward . I worked on the ward for 3 years prior to this . I have seen a lot of change since returning to the ward .
Patients have been discharged from Section in a timely way and lengths of stay on the ward are generally much shorter .
It is refreshing and encouraging to see this as many of our patients have severe and enduring mental illness and , perhaps due to this , have been hospitalised for longer than necessary in the past .
I think the ward is changing for the better and a great deal is due to the new psychiatrist with forward thinking views .
Dr Johnson is a great colleague who works really hard and is incredibly patient and carer focused. She is an exceptionally approachable consultant who involves the whole Multidisciplinary team in decisions in conjunction with the patient and their carers.
She has moved to a new role recently and has made significant progress in supporting patients to prepare for discharge, which is often an incredibly stressful time for them and their families.
Dr Johnson demonstrates many of the best qualities a doctor should have. She is knowledgeable and experienced, a good communicator and effective, but she also shows a genuine interest and care for her patients. She can see them and their lives in a real sense and not through a narrow psychiatric lens. She is pragmatic and shows an excellent judgement of when and when not to use the restrictions that psychiatrists can impose. She is an all-round well balanced doctor and I am very happy to call her a colleague, as well as recommending her to others.
This person asked me if I would take 'revenge' for how they treated me. I also never approached the woman for anything and never would. Also she couldn't cure a minor graze in my experience.
In order to improve services she could say how much she would like to be treated by a psychiatrist she could also say whether she would like the people to see to have choice over their care and whether she would like the to have money or not as the evidence is that she doesn't want the people she sees to work or to have money. I do know of a psychiatrist who has a full time second job.
I am a member of the public.
This individual has a questionable character and should not be allowed to care for (vulnerable) patients.
